Linux Competitors Help Define The Market

In the span of a week, Sun called Red Hat “proprietary,” and Microsoft said Linux is “not open source.” I am certain that the Linux camp — and Red Hat in particular — appreciates all of the free publicity. Regardless of how silly it is to call Red Hat proprietary and to say that Linux is not open source, Linux is now driving the technology debate agenda.
