Spammers (and others) use active elements in HTML-formatted e-mail to send information back to the sender about when you’ve opened a particular e-mail message. Reading your e-mail in plain text is one way to make your e-mail more private (and to send less information to spammers). If you use Eudora, you can still read HTML-formatted e-mail without the images by using Eudora’s built-in HTML viewer (instead of Microsoft’s viewer) and disabling images. See About.com for additional tips (http://email.about.com/cs/eudoratips/a/et060803.htm).
